Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

invisible but deadly. People expect normal behavior from mostly normal looking people, but when mental illness rears it's ugly head they say you are either crazy or a very bad person.
Physical illnesses bring sympathy, mental ones bring scorn. The mentally ill are expected to perform in daily life as tho they are not ill. This isn't expected of those with a physical illness. Ok, the vent's over.

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...

People are so illogical. I've had doctors tell me I need to take personal responsibility and take my meds faithfully when manic - so manic I don't even know what day it is and I think I have had a miracle recovery from depression and will never be sick again.
I was hospitalised for a month when I was manic and when I returned to work I had to feel guilty for leaving them in the lurch and making others stressed for having to pick up my workload. Not allowed to mention my illness or talk about my recovery. Shame and secrecy and guilt.
At the same time my boss was hospitalised with a heart attack and he was lavished with sympathy, love and caring.
The contrast couldn't have been starker.

Your message reminds of a rhyme I thought of some years ago. Don't want to say its a poem since its only a couple lines.
Mentally ill, nuts, nutzoid, loony, loonytunes, psycho, sicko, lazy,
mad, demented, not playing with a full deck, crazy
Why is it when both physical illness and mental illness can bring such misery and pain
the former is viewed with such sympathy and understanding
and the latter with such derision and disdain.
Hopefully with groups like this and anti stigma assns such as NAMI Mental Health America, formerly Nat. MH Assn, Empowerment Center this is slowly changing for the better

I wonder why people are so unforgiving on mental illness, where does that stem from? do they honestly think we're involuntarily ill to try to cop out of living life?
When I was Dx with cancer..my fellow co-workers showed a lot of concern.
When I was Dxed w BP..they all avoided me.
