Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
And beware of men not bearing gifts!!
If you have to go with one or the other, go for the former.
At least that way, you get a gift!!
What's the matter with just saying, 'No, thanks'?
And if asked for a reason, say 'Personal reasons', or 'I just don't want to'.
If a guy persists beyond that point, I don't see why you should worry about coming across as being cruel.
He doesn't mind being rude.
Shit. If he keeps after you after you politely decline, tell him you don't want to go out with him because he's pushy.
I don't accept help from men (or women) who I think are only offering to help me because they want something in return that they aren't being upfront about.
I try to steer clear of people like that.
My answer to your dilemma is to be blunt, straightforward and to the point. Being honest isn't cruel as long as you do it in a calm manner and without any drama attached to the conversation. We can actually be kind with our words while saying "NO" and then if all else fails, just ignore whoever it is and let it wash off your back and forget about it.
This is a generic type of answer since I don't know anything about your situation but don't be afraid to speak your mind and stop things from getting more complicated by letting them continue on because it can lead to confusion and mixed feelings in the other person's mind.
but it doesn't really matter...
bottom line ....dont worry about it... buy the looks of things...your just the closest woman in his proximity... his clock is ticking... and he may unconsciously think you would be an easy hit cause you are heavy and therefore in need ...
lots of variables and possibilities...
understand at his age he is desperate...and needs love too ... dont right him off for being human and carnal minded ...
just be nice ...be yourself ...take it as a compliment... notice it when he does it... and dont respond... until he pressures you ... and let him know that it is nice of him to think so but your not interested
First off this hound don't hunt. I prefer to be pursued as I have a problem with rejection and do not imagine I'll ever get past that aspect of my character. I am hopeful that this may change before I am banished to the ranks of lonely old codgers.
Richard covered the rest with pin point accuracy so that saves me some typo corrections.
However, I would add that although you point out that you are happily single you did point out that you felt that, for the moment, you have yet to be pursued by a man who is "right" for you so I jump to the conclusion that you at least are open to the possibility of a relationship should the "right" man came along.
I wonder if you don't have a certain someone that you admire from a distance. I don't mean the distance of the digital divide by that either. If so are you open to letting your interest known to such a person or, do you suffer the same rejection anxiety so many others do?
With the right words I don't think you can be cruel in letting a man know that you just don't "feel that way" about him. Believe me the "hunters" have heard that more times than you may realize.
IMO that is the quickest way you can both put a stop to such unwanted overtures and a great gauge as to what kind of man he is simply by his response.
Surely you are not opposed to having a man, or men, who respect you for who you are as a friend. At least that's not what I'm getting from your post. Friends help one another as best they can, with no agenda other than companionship, a belly laugh or just the sharing of what's offered for dinner after washing up from whatever fix-it function he may have offered.
All men are not dogs, and all the good men are not taken. Keep an open mind on the subject and a secret smile in your heart that is ready to reveal itself should the "one" comes along and gives you that week in the knees signal.
We can choose to be happily single for a myriad of reasons, whether personal or currently unidentified. Still people, most, can/may/will find a richer and more fulfilling life if/when they are blessed with another to share it with.
lol, again thanks go out to Richard in regards to the relative brevity of this reply. ~smiles~
