My memory is shot. Not sure if it's from the meds or if it's something more. My pdoc is sending me to a neuropsychologist to find out I guess.

I forget what I'm saying mid-sentence, I forget phone #'s I've known for years, I get angry and forget what I was angry about to begin with.

I know some of you have memory problems, but has anyone seen a neuropsychologist? Is there even a point to going? What are they checking for?

wow...good luck with that appt.
My pdoc goes on about mood swings altering way people file memories & are able to retrieve them & yeah, also mood stabilizers being debilitating in this area too. :(

Thanks Lou. I've had increasing memory problems for the past 6 months or so. My pdoc doesn't think it's med related. I've been on the same meds for a while and only 1 new one (and the problems started way before that).

i know what you mean hanna. i cant remember what they said mine was due to .. no really i cant....lol
i would go to appt. if that was what dr. wants you to do

I'll def. go to the appt. It's going to take months to get an appt., but I'll be there.

I guess the point is to differentiate between BP and if it's something else wrong with my brain. Wouldn't that just be the icing on the cake?

Awww, Hanna, as if you dont have enough to worry about. I think he just wants to make sure there isnt anything else going on to be on the safe side. I agree with Lou, my doc has told me the same thing about cycling and memory. Just recently, I was having a horrid time with memory and cognitive abilities. As soon as my doc decreased my lithium, My cognitive abilities were much improved.

We have to trust our pdocs and know that they have our best interests in mind. Sweetie, you know you are in my heart and prayers. Hugs

My memory has always been awful. As a kid they took me for EEG''S , EKG'S ,MRI"s, STD'S (joke) all of em. And they could never find any problems. Then I meet a doctor who told me WRITE STUFF DOWN.I know you do already girl. Just dont be upset about it cuz you cant halp it. It is a huge part of depression ~memory loss loves ya xoxoxoxox

my old pdoc (he was real old-retired) he said it was just a part of being bp.
