Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Liked what you said in another post about dealing with anxiety. Letting it flow over you.
Take care and Hugs inkspring!!
After many years of taking big combos of meds and getting so frustrated with all the different side effects and not knowing which drug was doing what, I've finally gained some control and the 'monotherapy' is working much better for me. I've been able to not feel so doped up and have a good handle on how the meds are truly affecting me. I know many docs don't agree with that, and it's not for everybody...
I tried to get off all meds with my pdoc's assistance in order to try for a pregnancy. I got off Ativan, which was really hard. I went down really slowly on seroquel. Started at 400mg and it's taken 6-9 months to get down to 200mg of seroquel. I can't do it. I had a really hard time coming down...tears every day, racing thoughts. Afraid mania will hit. Back to relying on Ativan. I told my doc I can't do it and have given up right now on trying to get med free. I've been really depressed about this reality. No kids reality means extra therapy sessions to talk about all the stuff associated with that. (TMI, sorry! Just speaking honestly!).
So I'm switching to Latuda. Starting on 20mg to see how I fare on it while I go down another 100mg of seroquel. I may need to go to 40 once I'm done with seroquel....one day at a time. I was told Latuda is for bipolar depression and not shown to help with mania. As long as I get my 8-10 hours of sleep each night I can do it. I hope and pray.
Anyway what I'm getting at is see if it's possible to maybe try to minimize the medication instead of going off entirely?? It's helped me out and I'm starting to feel less like a medicine head every waking hour. And I'm able to deal appropriately with emotions cause I'm not so dazed and stifled. I'm sorry you're having troubles. I think many of us have been there. Hang in there and take care.
