Im going to be assigned medication tomorrow, and I was wondering what some of the other BP people out there are taking and how effective they are. Ive been told to watch out for wicked side effects so im really nervous about trying something new. I know whatever im prescribed wont be a miracle drug and I know i will still have ups and downs, but I want them to be more manageable and less extreme. But i also dont want to be overmedicated and not be able to function normally. So if your on medication, how effective has it been for you, and please list side effects if you have any. Im just trying to see what im jumping into..

It's a bit of a trial to see what med suits you sometimes
I am on 300mg Lamictal, no side effects, just made me tired at first ( been on it for almost 4 years w no problems)
10 mg of Abilify, no side effects either
300 mg of Wellbutrin, none either
It took a few tries to get my "med cocktail" right. Do your homework and read up as much as you can on psych meds before you go to the doc, let him/her know your concerns and ask as many questions as possible.

im now on anti d...venlazaxine (efexor xr) no side effects...the generic made me through up and i couldnt eat.
mood stabilizer..carbamazepine (tegretol) no side effects..
upped the dosages recently and feel slightly better.
