I see the pdoc tomorrow, HOORAY!!! I've been without a mood stabilizer for 7 months, and it's been a bumpy ride.

I don't know what the doc will Rx me, but after looking at the history of what meds I've already taken, I think he'll lean toward Tegretol.

Anyone with experience w/ Tegretol?

Also...does anyone know of an antipsychotic medication that does NOT make you a zombie in any way, shape or form?

My aim is to be able to function in society without being a groggy mess. If I have to take a med, I better be able to think clearly.

Try one of the typical anti psychotics I use chlorpromazine

I take tegretol now and have had very few side effects with it. It is a good supplemental mood stablizer to my Lamictal. I also recommend Abilify as an anti-psychotic. It gives me energy without grogginess. You might experience some jitters the first week or so that you take it, but so far no massive weight gain either.

I am on Trileptol. I took Tegretol many years ago but they had to stop it due to they needed blood and my viens weren't working at all for them.

I've been on Abilify since May, it has helped me so much. It did cause me to have shakes and tremors, so my pdoc put me on Benztropine to help with that, it did.

Tegretol made me a total zombie. dh said i didn't walk, i shuffled and was in a complete haze, i think it contributed to my suicide attempt.

tried abilify, but it didn't work, now on geodon and lexapro and they have worked wonders.

Seroquel makes me tired at night but the rest of the day I'm no zombie.

me again, correction and addition, i am on eskalith, lamictal, lexapro, geodon, synthroid and ativan
