I have a question for the ladies of this group. Have you ever been confused about whether or not your skipping down mania lane or just getting your period?
Two days ago I would've sworn I was entering a terrible mania. My mind wouldn't shut up, I was an emotional wreck (for crying out loud I found myself sobbing hysterically because of an episode of Golden Girls!!), I couldn't sleep, couldn't concentrate and was snapping at everyone. I felt nuts and I'm fairly certain that my family would've agreed.
Then last night my period showed up and suddenly I feel better. Now it's pretty normal for me to get emotional a week prior, ovulation and all that, but I swear it's getting worse the older I get lol!
Oy, sometimes I just can't tell if it's a BP thing or a female thing messing with me! I'm gonna go hide under my heating pad now...

Everyday I feel more and more sick. Being in pain every day, I've learned to disguise it. So well that others don't believe my pain when I speak of it. Needing help but only receiving negative responses, I find my way but pay for it later. I absolutely need the rest but there's pressing things to be done.

Ugh my depression is really being triggered by the grief of losing my mom. Ugh it sucks. I wish this pain would leave me already.

BUT...I was just thinking about this with regards to my daughter...I mean she's 14 and just started her period about 6 months ago. And I'm ALWAYS wondering...it this behavior "normal BP", "normal period stuff" or "normal teen stuff"...OR the dreaded does this mean that one of her meds has stopped working? BLARGH...she will be starting the drama of High School in the Fall and I AM NOT READY!!!!!!! Hang in there Bree...heating pad = good, chocolate ice cream = BETTER!!!
Great job on the insight and putting "hormones" and "mania" together. I think you've come up with a fantastic topic of discussion for you and your doctor, therapist, and/or psychiatrist. Well done!
And while it often shows up within a week of starting your period, some people ovulate differently and could have their Worst emotional times in the Middle of their monthly cycle. Or right after. It's different for different women...
I guess if the "moodiness" is consistent in it's Time every month, its likely hormonal! It happens. *smile* My condolences.
