whenever i get really manic i go into psychosis immediatly and then get in trouble and wind up in the hosp. it always happens this way. reading your guizes posts has shown me that MOST ppl deal with the illness.

what are your thoughts and experiences? how do i stay out?

Sometimes you can't stop the mania once it's kicked off...it helps to know early warning signs like not sleeping & to take lots of anti-psychotics (with pdocs help)

My manic episodes (I am mixed) are like a fire bell warning in my head constantly.That stupid fire drill ring the school bells do...whayy whayy whayyy...that combined with the totlal lethargy of depression ,is what is wearing me down so fast.I really feel my physical health is at risk...other than the just wanting it to be all over ...I feel like all my body systems are on such adrenaily activated high state of alert,I'm closing down.

I was hopeing that the new med (Depakote) would give me some releif.I know it takes several weeks to really kick in...but I was wishing that I would at least wake up and feel some tiny bit of improvement...just for a little positive feedback ,that maybe I'd found a drug that will work for me.

Now ,I just feel sick again.

i wish i could help...i am newly diagnosed and i have many depressive states and i think mixed states, but my manic states are mild and few. i have heard that there are lots of warning signs, and that if you get plenty of sleep and eat right, that can help ward off the mania. good luck!
