i have all this manic episodes but since i was young i manage to internalize all of them, very rarely do they surface, i only hurt myself, but i was wondering what's better, to act on this manias or what? what should i do? one time i want to slap my friend and tell her to shut up and stop for a while and the next i'm all cuddly to her, i'm tired of "swallowing" all this things but i'm afraid that once i start acting on them i'll end up alone or in a psych ward, i'm very afraid, i don't know what to do, and i keep hurting and another thing if she was truly my friend shouldn't she investigate on BP in order to help me a little bit more? i mean i know thats what i would do if the situations were reverse, she ask me one time "what should i do?" and i said "i don't even know how to help myself of course i don't know how you can help me" and i thought that being the starty that she is she would take it upon herself to investigate, but so far the world revolves around her, her problem and get this, she thinks that if she doesn't talk about it it does not happen!!!!! i don't even have a question, i just want your experience

I can relate with you on the internalizing all the manic episodes...and being afraid to let them out because I'd end up alone or in a psych ward... I had a boyfriend from when I was 15 to 17.. things started getting weird with him.. I met a new guy at work and jumped in bed with him first chance I got... TOTALLY NOT me! boyfriend found out... things got ugly messy... couldn't chose one guy... led both on... boyfriend eventually left me and got a woman pregnant.. he was 3 almost 4 years older than me... I didn't realize until much later what a huge mistake I had made....and I couldn't figure out why in the heck I did what I did! I stayed with the new guy... we are now married with a child.. and most times... there is a lot more to all of this but it is way too long to get into. So..... now I'm 22 and hooked up with a psych and he said I was manic at that point... ok I better stop here!
Do you have a psych? or therapist?

i do but all he does is giving me meds and he doesn't explain things to me, on top of that i think the only true friend i have doesn't care about what i'm going through and think that if we don't talk about it doesn't happen

Maybe you could ask your psych to explain things better... and take your friend with you?
Or if the psych will not explain (they should, and if they wouldn't I would be tempted to switch but I understand if you can not.) you could look up some information online and show it to your friend.
When I walked out of my psych's office after my first appt with him with a diagnosis of bipolar I was stunned... it took me days to understand it... I joined this site and read a lot of stuff on web md and other various sites...and that's when things started coming together for me. Like a big AH HA! moment...

for some reason, this post was so hard for me to follow. are you mad that your friend will not take time to educate herself about bipolar and be helpful to you?

Your friend asked you what she should do and you said you didn't know how she could help you and you expect HER to take it from there!!!? That made it sound like there was nothing she could do!!!! Talk to her again and ask her if she would read up on what it's like to be BP!!!!! Tell her it's too difficult for you to explain it to her!!! She made an attempt!! She asked you what she could do!!!!? Appreciate that!!!! Tell her to join this group!!! THEN she'll see what we're like and what we go through!!!! LOLOL!!!!

ok, i know where i've gone wrong with this post, thank you for the insights but you know (krissikat and carlabent ) why i posted this? it was because it hurts me that this friend in cuestion does EVERYTHING, how do you say...goes out of a limp? to help other friends and i just thought that i would be among those friends you know? she asked one time and then she forgot about it it appears and it just hurt that i feel like i'm struggling with this alone and any false step i give, any "manic episode" i have she just treats it like i'm trying to draw attention to myself, which i'm not, i'm just trying to cope with something that is completely alien to me, thats why, i don't know if i explained better :S
