Loosing Medicaid

Because of having too much money in my checking account I'm going to loose my health care coverage, the money that's there is my back pay from SSDI I just recently got approved. I could have hidden the money but if I got caught I could have gotten jail time, they have no sense of humor here in Arizona about that, the state is nearly bankrupt.

I am fortunate in one way and that is that I'm covered with my bipolar meds because I have SMI status here in Arizona( seriously mentally ill) I'm also going to be on medicare on December first, but from now to then I'm on my own and that scares me because I'm also diabetic. Because who know what could happen and I have no hospital coveridge till December.

I know i'm probably over reacting but It's just scary for me to be without insurance for a month, I also have other health problems that flare up from time to time and the last time it happened I had to go to the hospital. I know I can pay out of pocket for a month and not bankrupt myself, but the concern is if something catastrophic happening.

I know that there are probably some of you that don't have coveredge at all I'm I'm sorry if it sounds like whining I'm just used to being covered when I have to go the the hospital. I also have no coveridge if I should have to go in the psych hospital but I'm not too concerned about that I'm pretty stable right now.

I found out that several of my meds aren't in Medicares formulary, so now I'm going to through another med change and who know what that will do to me. I'm sure this probably sounds trivial to some of you but I'm freaking out.

That's a frustrating situation for sure. Once you spend the money can you get Medicaid again? The bureaucratic thinking amazes me sometimes.

No Tommy here in Arizona one you loose medicaid you can't get back on. their not taking any now applications and I would have to start the process all over again when I do qualify. I will also be loosing my case manager and my therapist and that's forever.

You recieve SSD or SSI? either way you should get some sort of medical - if you are SSD then medicare and if SSI then state medical and to the best of my knowledge there are things (like retroactive back pay from disability) that can't be factored in when establishing monetary statemebt for medicaid I would be fighting this one

That sux Chris.. I hope you'll be okay until December.... I really feel for the US citizens...the taxes you pay should be used for medical insurance as far as Im concerned.. big hug and a blessing for you..x

i had a promblem as weel i was on disabilty but no insurents so i had to go on a drug promgram where the company mails you the drugsd a major pain i think if you are decleared not able to work you should have insuremts the stae would cover me and the money i had was to much for coverage a real mess it took two years to get insurent in the men time i need to pay rent and for meds and for doctors heed less to say at 27 the ssdi wasnt much considering i had been in and out of work and moving around do to my condision hope you will make it throught till you get coverage just knwo the system wasnt mad efor me and you it made for rich and health but dont let that get you down because then they win sorry if this brings you down but jsut felt like this was a good time to vent and compare situations

you make a good point you need to be totally broke before tyou get help and in the process they put you in debt it is the same thing with food stamps which i need at one time it is amazing how some peopel can live off the system but people who try not to be a burden to society get screwed

In California, you can not collect assistance from Medicade and Medicare at the same time .

Medicade being a State run program and Medicare , being a Federal program...can't take from both.

Once I was SSDI approved for disability, I was paid monthly, but had to wait a year for Medicade medical and drug coverage...my Pdoc gave me med samples during that year, but it was tough paying my medical bills.

I know that financial feeling. I earn about $300 too much to earn medicade and many other programs. It really sucks so I need to find out what we can subtract dollars from our earnings?

The bastards!!!!! That shouldn't be set up that way!!! Counting your SSDI back pay as part of your resources!!! God!!! They don't miss a trick, do they!!!
Yes, you're still much better off than a lot of people on here, so be grateful for what you do have!!!
But I remember when I was working and sweating out that 90 day waiting period before the health insurance kicked in, and I lived in fear of something catastrophic befalling me!!!!

Oh, something I forgot to say that I think is real and I really hope that it is real.

Once your SSDI kicks in you will automatically get medicare two years after your application date.

I really hope this is not wrong or I am screwed for eternity.

I feel since you have been on Medicade you will get medicare immediately you wont have to wait two years.

Hi Christopher, Sorry you have to go through this . I am happy to see you get medicare in Dec. Our state is so messed up . Budget cuts . What are we supposed to do ? I hope you can stay healthy till Dec. Hang in there . Take Care P.S. I don't think you are whining at all, it can be very scary not having ins.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
