Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Today is a rough day, I feel so low and empty. Nobody seems to understand that I am this down for absolutely no reason. I am so tired of being told "There must be a reason" "You can't just be this sad for no reason". Does this make anyone else feel more guilty for being sad with no reason? It makes me feel as though I am ungrateful for what I have, like nothing is enough..
Even with a strong support system I have never felt so lonely and so alone. I just keep getting told to exercise, but does anyone understand how difficult it is to will yourself to exert effort you already don't have..

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

Have you been diagnosed with bipolar? If so, are you on meds? If you are depressed it sounds as if the meds aren't working properly.
But depression doesn’t discriminate. Look at Robin Williams. He had a lot going for him but he killed him self. Just goes to show you never know what’s happening inside a person.
I am on meds, 3 different ones actually. My psychiatrist has just moved me onto new medication 6 months ago and so far its helped but when I hit a low its very very low
You aren't in a depression for no reason.... You're in a depression because you have a disorder...… Maybe a psych visit is in order
Big hug.....xo
There are so many factors with a dx of bipolar...mainly the chemical imbalance. I'm a rapid cycler and find the depression to be very challenging....the thought of exercise is beyond anything I could possibly do...yet those who care for you are absolutely right.
If I'm on the couch all day, numbing and doing nothing, I feel worse. If I at least get up, show and dress...I'm winning the battle. Baby stepping is my method to help me get back to life.
I totally get where you’re coming from. Depression is a beast to deal with and feeling alone seems to be a common thread. That’s why it’s good to have like-minded people like the ones here on DS to understand.
I’ve got a decent support system as well but unless a person lives with a bipolar diagnosis, it’s hard for others to get it no matter how hard they try.
On the exercise, that one is challenging for me too. I’m like you, how am I supposed to do that exactly if I don’t even want to move?
But as someone said, I find baby steps do help. I sometimes set a timer for as little as 10 minutes to get up and do something. It takes some of the guilt away because even small accomplishments are big when facing a depressive episode. Hugs.
And then, of course, anger acerbates the depression and wanting to just leave the world behind. That's when I get my shrink involved and pull out all my tools.
