I have a severe side effect from a new drug called trilafon. It's an anti-psychotic. my lips purse and smack. my togue wants to be hanging out half the time. It's called dyskenesia. I take cogentin to help. but It's not helping. even with the increased dose.

How can you hide side effects so no one will notice?

I don't think there is anything you can do .

Except change meds ?

I suffered from TD , with every anti-psychotic I took.

At times , making grimacing looks and facial tics.

I was sent home from work, more than once , as my facial expressions were upsetting to customers.

This condition can become permanate , deff talk to your Pdoc

As I understand it if the cogentin is not working you need to switch to something else... I have tongue issues from risperdal that I am terrified to tell my pdoc about because she will want to take me off. Kind of having to decide which is worse, the bipolar without risperdal or the spasms.

I believe that there are some medications that can help. For sure let your doctor know before it worsens.

Had this in mild form with Geodon. Make sure to tell your Doc. Either you need a new med or something added, but if you leave it it can be permanent so talk to someone.

spoke to pdoc. he said it was emergent dyskenesia. I'm suffering withdrawal from the antipsychotic that I was on. so he increased the amount of the new stuff in the hopes that the ED would fade. I didn't.
but..I'm so pleased with the results of this new med, I might just live with it. dunno.

wow..it faded with time. you know us, we all want instant results.

I still am liking the new stuff.

somtimes can't sleep though. kinda stressed out today though.

I am glad it got better with time--I have had a little lip smacking when starting Abilify but it went away.

If you get any unusual movements when on any antipsychotic, it is a very good idea to run it by your doc. (I write as my left foot & toes wiggle constantly from a med side effect that has not stopped yet, even a year and a half after stopping)
