Most people want the lie, unfortunately. Depends on your relationship too.

I know what you mean. i guess it depends on if they really want to know or not. if i am talking to a friend on sunday after church the answer would be to lie. if its my mom on the phone,..she gets the truth. lol

I usually tell the truth. But I don't go into detail. I have been known to say to a cashier that asks me How are you today, and I'll reply pretty crappy actually.

depends on who im talking too.....or if i dont want to say the "real deal" i say fine..but in all actuality when i say it i mean F.I.N.E- Fouled up, Insecure, Neurotic, Eccentric ;)

after dealing with the public for years in retail, i still usually tell the truth to strangers just to point out the fact that their pleasantry is still a question and maybe they should think about what they say before they say it. but then again i don't have a very positive view of people in general.
sadly it is to the people that i know that i find myself lying to.everyone has their own problems that are important to them. this way no one has to worry about my problems if they don't know about them.

That's one of the worst things we deal with. I guess you have think about what YOU want in that situation. If you just want that person to go away, then give them a lie.

My friends know. My immediate family knows. Husband still doesn't want his parents to know. They only know that I am depressed and in therapy. I also made my stance on abortion clear as well as gay marriage.

His parents are Pentecostal and though I like them just fine, his dad said one day, "The only way to Heaven is through the Pentecostal Church." In my head, my mouth was hanging open because these people work for a Catholic Church. WTF? All their coworkers are going to hell, if there is one? So I have my issues with them.

My husband wasn't happy that night at dinner when I got my pro-choice, pro-gay stance in, not to mention my battle with depression. Here's what I say. Don't like it then lump it. And take it down the road and dump it. I'm not going to always hide who the fuck I am.

It depends on how important that person is to me. Sometimes sharing with someone you don't know can be really helpful though. Like someone you will never see again, lol. But, I usually clam up and save the truth for my husband, lucky guy.
