Lets stop this Bi Polar Negativeness

Hasnt anyone noticed lately,...but Bi-polar is on the increase.The doctors recently stated that bi polar has hit children.Who has heard of a 6 year old child with bi polar? I havent and I dont believe this at all.There is no test for bi-polar and there is no blood test.And do you know that being bi polar is sometimes misdiagnosed? Yet...people are always writing absurd things about us.That senior citizen in seattle who was robbing banks was not bi-polar.He had a gambling problem and once you have that...you have to come up with loads of money.We have GA here and he could have gone.That one man in New York who robbed the banks wasnt bi-polar..he told the FBI he was bored! Well,excuse me..it is nearly the end of the month sir and i am out of money as usual...how about me? I am bored also.But I do things everyday to come out of this boredom.Yet you tell people you are bi polar.Why are these people who obviously are criminals to begin with
using bi-polar? Why? Why is everyone using this? Is it fashionable now? I mean if Mick Jagguar told People that he was Bi-Polar dont you think that all of the people in research would listen? And lets stop saying children get bi polar...this isnt true.Mr. Scientist can you at least work out a test that will help diagnose bi polar? There is no test nor are there blood tests so people like me have to wait for 10 years before a correct disagnos is made.Cant we stop paying attention to these negative people and have us bi polar people band together for a better understanding of it?

I was a BP child at 6 years of age and that was 54 years ago. My outlook is that there are many understanding people now who "get it" and aren't judgmental. The people who don't want to understand are very hard to convince so we might want to ignore them. I don't "come out" to many people as BP. That's best for me.

Children can be bipolar. Sometimes children are misdiagnosed with other disorders like ADHD. Later in life, the doctors say oh well they are actually bipolar.

Each grouping of people are going to have their rotten eggs. There's a saying I've always heard. When a crime is reported on TV people say," Oh please Oh please don't let them be_______". Fill in what ever group you are in.

I've had out of control mood problems my ENTIRE life. It wasn't until I was put on a mood stabilizer that I finally found relief...at the age of 22. Looking back, I know I've had the problem my whole life. Just because BP hasn't traditionally been Dx in kids doesn't mean that kids don't have it. However, I do think that people should not be so quick to slap a Dx on kids. Many kids ARE over medicated. My brother was one of them. He was out of control, so the doctors said "medicate him"...the drugs made him WORSE to the point where my dad wanted to axe murder him. I remember getting the phone call that evening when I was living in Texas...I'll never forget it...hearing my poor little brother screaming out of his mind because the drugs were making him crazy, my dad going nuts, and my mom trying to keep the family peace, meanwhile I'm 1200 miles away from home and could do nothing for nobody. It was horrible.

To all of you..once again thanks..but some people today dont understand what it is like to be bi polar.There is a young girl in the mid west who may do time because she robbed a bank.In her town which is town..noone truly understand her bi polar.People think when a teenager acts out..they are rebelling.This isnt so.They want be bi polar and some of the teenagers do need medication.A great deal of medication can change a person and Brads has changed his.He now sleeps 8 hours a night and isnt so cranky when he gets up.As for the negative people..what about some of these comics? Robin Williams is always making comments on the people who have to deal with severe mental health issues and people who dont know anyone with these issues tend to agree with some of the news articles.2 teenagers who are bi polar started 3 fires.I hate fires and I hate lagoons,pools and lakes.They make them too deep and since I dont swim well..i stay away.Another negative person is that conservative columnist Ann Coulter.I have never read such hate..This lady takes the cake and lets not forget.Rush...who are these people to knock Obama..when they alone are jackasses?And lets remember some children can be a handful and they can be easily bored and we must learn to help them..but do not give them these medications.....

It's a crime to rob a bank. It's not a crime to be BP.
During one of my hospitalizations one of my fellow patients was a person who had killed a policeman in a manic rage. His behavior didn't aid in others understanding BP at all. There are personalities that make their living by being belittling and cruel. I might be that way too if I knew that I'd rake in millions of dollars a year. But probably not. Those people are the scum of society and what they say doesn't affect me.
