Lamactil and alcohol

I was just wondering if anyone has negative effects of drinking alcohol with lamactil? Or any effects whatsoever?

It is your life and I am not here to try and tell you what to do. Everyone has a right to their own choices.

In my opinion I would not drink at all. Bipolar is greatly aggravated by mind altering drugs (which alcohol is one). Alcohol greatly aggravates depression the day or days after you drink. Lamictal is most effective when used for the depressive component of bipolar. So why would you want to drink on that? You may really upset the natural depressive moods you have.

Merrymay. No one has ever ever told me that. Now I understand. I have a glass of wine or two every night w dinner. Ive been on lamactil for about three months now. But today I'm feeling depressed. And I've been told not to drink by my pdoc. But I guess ice never connected the dots. So many many thanks to u!!

Alcohol is a mood amplifier.

My drugs did not work till I quit drinking yes alcohol effect any drugs

I want to second what Merry said. It is a terrible idea to drink while you are on any type of medication for bipolar. Plus, alcohol is a depressant, it will really make your drug in effectiive
