Well, I have pretty much given up on God. I'm not saying I'm anti-christ or anything. Just that I'm unsure. I don't have faith..in any higher power.

I was born and raised Catholic. My daughter was baptized as an infant. My son (nearly 6) has not been. My mother is very Catholic. She has brought them every year of their lives to vacation bible school...today she is signing my kids up for religion classes.

I'm not against this. I don't care what my children believe. I'd just love for them to have faith. However, it's kind of hard to explain to them why I don't go to church ever, and when they have questions about God or Jesus. I just point them into the direction of my Mother.

What am I supposed to tell them? I'm not going to ruin their chance at faith, but how would I answer if they asked me why I don't go to church?

Why do they have questions about god or jesus or church...I heard a new word today Mum "faith" what does that mean?

Faith is believing that there is a higher being, that they are looking out for you...and even if you make mistakes, you can be forgiven.

I can describe faith. I just can't tell them about the Catholic religion. I know the answers...what I'm supposed to tell them, but since I don't buy it I don't want to give my kids and doubts.

religion was developed to controll the masses throug fear of repocushiond if you do not do as they say clever idear but dont u think it has got a little out of hand especially as we can now prove it totally nonsence just my belief sorry if i up set eany one

I am Caholic also. I stopped going because of all the pediphiles in the church. The lord gave us free will and that's what we all have. I can remember receiving holy communion from a priest who later was arrested for molesting altar boys. I will never lose my faith in god,and I will know he is always there for me. Now the people hear representing him, well thats a different story. Hanna your chidren will grow have free will and will be able to make choices like yourself.

I agree with you that your children need to go to church to learn about and build up faith in a higher power. Explain to them maybe that the Catholic higher power is the one that you were raised in and learned from and thus want them to also, but now that you are a big person-lol-you have a different higher power that you believe in and turn to. Best I can come up with baby. Take care.

well, you could tell them that grandmom takes them there to learn about God and her beleifs, and when they are older then they have the ability to choose their beleifs for themselves... make sense? you've already learned (gone to school(church)) and you do beleive in God, think its a nice thing for them to share with grandmom.

Read the Bible. It explains everything in a clear concise manner, without the bullshit of organized religion.
All He wants is to have a relationship with you. That's it. Don't buy into the man made rules and regulations.

well, true dobie, i mean i the catholic religion and the bible and the Truth are two entirely different things, but their are some truths taught in catholic church...also i'm sure their are some truths taught in satanic worship. heheh.

but i do think catholic training is better than no training at all.... i think.
