In a weeks time I get the results from a chest and abdomen cat scan I had recently. I'm still in pain from my hernia surgery and I'm going to learn if I have cancer.
I found out that I had a shadow or polyp on my lung, my doc used both words so obviously she had no clue what it was but I could tell by the look on her face that she expected bad news. So do I.
I don' t know what I'm going to do, stick around for painful treatment with little likelihood of working or just off myself and then let my insurance burn my body and send my mom on a vacation. There's enough of it for a nice trip after I'm taken care of.
I have a really bad feeling about this as you can tell.
Anything anyone can offer to get my mind out of this defeatist place would be appreciated.

Try and reign yourself in.... I know it must be difficult... Waiting can be so hard...
Do you have a therapist that you can maybe see a little more over this period... Do you have a prn medication to take??
I think this would be a hard time for anyone... Bless you....xo
And if it is bad news, it may not be as bad as you think - many cancers are now treatable ..don't give up hope. Mark
I wish I knew what to say... I have many cancer survivors in my life..... one who did have lung cancer and had her lung removed and that was over 5 years ago and she is healthy and happy and living life to the full..... I don't think a shadow or polyp per se is solely indicative of cancer?.. but as humans we do tend to think the worst (that's all of us)... the waiting game is unpleasant to say the least
one thing I have learnt is that cancer is a word and not a sentence... please don't automatically think the worst......it's hard not to I know
modern medicine is fantastic these days .... my best friend is a cancer survivor of over 20 years... my sister 10 years.... that word is just so frightening..... and I know you are scared... I know I was when they found nodules on my thyroid and I had to wait for the results....... benign again.... see the trend here? again please just don't think automatically of the worst case scenario
again treatment has come on leaps and bounds and the survival rates are much higher than they were so between taking treatment and offing yourself.... you would be denying yourself getting better... IF that becomes the case
I agree with Suncloud again.... do you have a therapist that you can open up to and talk to through this difficult time?
keep talking with us.... I don't know if I have made things worse and I apologise if I have
