It's no big deal...I hate those words

I don't know bout anyone else. But I am tired of being told the same two things over and over. First whenever I am unhappy about something I am told its no big deal. I am always and forever over reacting. However when ever anyone voices their opinion about something I have "done" I am treated like a criminal. Why would you do that, say that, be like that. I am so tired of always being told I am wrong. How is it that I am the only imperfect person in my life? Why does it seem that I am the only one who can admit when I AM wrong? I am getting so tired of this merry-go-round. It's not that I back down when I believe I am right but things just escalate because I won't lay down and accept shit. How do you all deal with things when they get this way? In my heart I know my desire to leave is my illness. How do I make things better in my head?

That's a tough one Lost. Part of it is the illness. But we also get provoked by people who take advantage of this illness. They see us as weak. They don't like to see when we are strong. It sure can confuse us because we fall back into the same trap. The longer we fall into these traps, the longer we stay prisoners of our emotions. It's almost as if we must break a very bad habit. It takes determination, consistency, and a very conscious effort to make ourselves stop. If we could stop beating ourselves up, that would be a start.

And today, I still fight to stay or go to Vero Beach even for the 3 day weekend and battling whether this illness will rob me of my abilities to cope and get things done like I used to before I fell victim to a fantasy of meeting someone who would hold my hand, spend time with me, go for a walk in the park.

Acceptance that I am jobless, a mother, a wife who is miserable...well..guess I have to walk through the fire.

Wow I never looked at it like a bad habit. By golly I do believe you are right about it though. It is a trap. It's the dog chasing it's tail. Even though I "know" this why do I feel powerless to stop it?

We are always searching for answers and understanding. It is a big deal. People always take things for granted

The psychology of statements like "it's no big deal" is that it provides perspective and helps us see that something's not worth being upset about or that things aren't as bad as it seems.
You don't have to like it, but there it is!

Everyone has a bad day or It's no big deal are hard to hear when we are having a tough day. But as Tommy says, it puts things in perspective. It usually just make me worse when someone tells me that.
