Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

ok so i'm not dead. i found a place to live. it's weird being on my own, but i like it. i'm getting used to it. i like my new city and i'm getting used to it. i haven't got out too much, but i'm learning how to get to a few places and there are definitely places i want to investigate when i get the time. i'm doing okay with my classes (i think). i'm a little overwhelmed on the school front. and the work front. my students take a lot of time and energy, but i seem to be holding on okay most days. i'm doing pretty well with my meds. i'm not doing so well with my diabetes meds and i'm thinking about maybe getting a service dog. what do you all think? they're trained to detect fluctuations in blood sugar, get food in an emergency or contact emergency services. i've had a couple of scares - really low blood sugar. i didn't notice until i was nearly unconscious. no bueno. no bad highs lately, just the worrisome lows. plus it would be company. i think maybe i'm a little lonely. but i don't know what the rules are for service animals. there's a pet deposit here, but is that waived for service animals? i really can't afford a pet deposit. the budget is super tight.
i'm kinda proud of myself though. it's been a couple of months and i'm here and this is happening - grad school, a place of my own. independent living. i kinda feel like this is what it is to be an adult. though i worry about crashing and landing in hospital every day. and my anxiety is spiking like no body's business, but for now i'm actually managing. now, i just need to make it to the end of the semester. one foot in front of the other!!!

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

I would for the time being start checking your blood sugar more even if you have to set an alarm 4 or 6 times a day right now.... A service dog would be great... I don't know what the waiting list might be like though?
Big hug for you and a blessing... It's great to see you!!....xo
I have a friend who is disabled and getting a service dog really saved her life. Now she has a reason to get up in the morning. I would recommend a service dog if you can get one. They help people a lot.
Living independently is challenge but it has many rewards. I live alone too, and I love it. You get used to it, it gets easier.
I wish you well in getting a service dog. I think animals make life worth living.
