Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I knew dealing with bp would be difficult but it is really difficult to recover from drepression and trying to get my life back in order. Trying to deal with life when very depressed is extremely difficult as you know.
My cat woke me up in the middle of the night last night and kept bugging me and I couldn't figure why. I could sleep well the night before either. I get up anxious and crying. I come out the living room and turn on the tv. I've taken my meds. I'm on my little laptop to see what's going on here but 1st the browser screen pops up with news from around the world. So much suffering going on. I was told by my therapist to avoid watching the new. I agree but it is everywhere.
I want to get a part-time job but I'm still such a wreak. The last time I got a job when I was in this bad of shape I was fired after 3 weeks because of it. So I need to get better before I can do that. It like I'm trapped in this vicous circle of depression and I'm afraid I'll never get better. I have tired of feeling so terrible for a long time. Sometimes I come out of it but I still don't feel great. I've thought of ending my life but I don't want to do that to my son or my dad. Idk what to do anymore. I can try a lot of things recommended to me and see what happens.
I just needs someone to talk to who know what it is like to go through this.

Is there anything you have done in the past that has made you feel better when in a similar mood or situation like my listening to jazz? Reading more about your favourite thing, for example?
I have had quite a few cats and dogs (mostly dogs) who woke me up out of nightmares, including the sweetie in my avi. Any possibility that is why your cat woke you up last night? I am pretty convinced my support animals know things about me that I don't have the senses to detect. I am ever more convinced it is worth learning how to listen to them.
I totally get you. I have BP 1 and I have had a lot of trouble with jobs and keeping them. It's really a daily struggle. Say goodbye to the news, I have to keep it off or I get upset at everything going on. When I am having a rough patch I get on Pinterest and distract myself, or read a book. I also understand feeling frustrated about not being able to work. You should take everything slow and not rush back to work. I was stable from the years 2011-2014 and I worked full-time, but I am not working currently. I used to work in retail and hospitality and have shift work but that made my BPD worse. I am taking online classes so I can find a part-time office job, or something with a set schedule. Maybe volunteering in your community (or online, like in a message forum like this) could help you feel more productive and connected.
