Well, I'm gearing up for an invasion of my safe place, my home, and over stimulation everyday for a month with no break.
My sis-in-law and brother-in-law are arriving tomorrow and staying for a week--lots of activity. Being I'm entertaining company, I probably won't be on this board much, if at all. Thank God we get along well and I really like them.
The day after the in-laws leave, a crew is coming to tear up my entire bathroom and our bedroom floor. The demolition and refinishing should take about 3 weeks or so. Lots of noise, tearing part of my house up, strangers in and out. Our house is not large so we can't get away from it. At least the nights will feel safe an quiet. We'll be sleeping in our spare bedroom. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself. This will be interesting. I hope I handle it well.
Routine is non-existent for 4 weeks and I love and need structure, doing the same or similar things everyday, having a routine week to week. I don't do flying by the seat of my pants very well on a daily basis. Shall I pretend we are being visited by house repairing elves to put a fantasy spin on it? Then write a story about it and some fantastic scenarios each day while they're here? Aarrgh. Well I'm going to try to make the best of it. I'll do the best I can.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

I remember a couple years ago we had a room remodeled, a new bathroom put in, new french door, and staining done. I felt that same way you do. I tried to break up that strain into one day at a time increments and remembered that with each day they were closer to being done. Sometimes I broke it up into moment by moment and took care of my needs as they came up.
We made it thru and boy they did a good job! :) It was all worth it in the end.
I know how Those times are, too.

You already know the in-laws...so that can be seen as a warm up for the real test of your mettle. I do think it might be a good thing for you to look at it all as an experience to write about and hopefully it will have the desired ending you hope for and your comfort zone will be back...with an added flair.
You'll wonder where the time went.
Take breaks, go to parks, library, gym, local attractions and museums. Think of it as an opportunity to have more fun and a little adventure outside your normal routine for a couple of weeks. A vacation from your normal routines.
Best of luck with it all, I hope all your expectations for good results pan out.
Moobus, :-) yes, if I do decide to write about it, fantasize a bit, I will remember you asked to read it--it may come off corny or silly, but if I do it and you are okay with that, well we can laugh ourselves silly together.
Surferchica--I never thought of having a "vacation from routines". I've always felt I need them to stay in control as best I can. A totally different perspective. Hmmm...I will definitely process that idea and try to apply it. Thanks.
Thank you all. I don't know if I'll be able to pop in at all for the next week, but I will be thinking of you and everyone on the board. I wish you well.
I hope you have lots of good times with your family and can disappear in your room or a nice long bath when you need to get away
Great big hug of peace and calm for you...xo
