Having OCD, I go through this all the time. What I try to do is be mindful, live in the moment. Pay attention to your surroundings--the sounds, the sights, the smells.

OMG!! That makes perfect sense. I have OCD as well. My PTSD fuels my intrusive thoughts or so I am told. Now...........it's a damn shame that my external stimuli threaten to drive me nuts too!!!!!

I've had troubles with intrusive thoughts. Meds do have an effect and 8mg risperdal is a lot, in my estimation so you might be on the right track to go back to seroquel. We can practice Thought-Stopping Techniques. That's coming up with another thought to override what's intrusive. It's not perfect and takes awhile but it can work.

i am not ocd but have racing thoughts and zyprexa has been working for me.

I have been trying to instead of where the thought wants me to go to branch off and say, BUT I am not going to do that. I am going to be a good mommy/person. It does take practice and diligence. I used to do it pretty good, but I think I got lax about it because it did go away for a while, but as I get closer with my dad..............the thoughts seem to become intrusive again.

i had those and i hated them, it was really morbid stuff that would disturb me. abilify really helped to stop them for me. i still get a little obsessive sometimes, but ill take that over morbid any day.

i have horrible intrusive thoughts. seems to be going on for awhile now.

im on seroquel, abilify and lamictal. either im going thru tooo much shit, or this combo isnt right either!

I know what you mean with the intrusive thoughts and it drives me nuts sometimes too. There are times I don't have them and when I do I try just letting the thoughts pass on through. However, there are times that the thoughts just come one right after another and it gets the best of me and I just break down and cry because I can't take it. I have the Pure O but there usually are mind rituals and compulsions that we don't realize we are doing so pure o is kind of a misnomer. For me it happens more with stress and anxiety and can be a sign of heading into hypomania or mixed. The meds they use to help treat OCD like zoloft and anafrinil and other AD's actually make mine a lot worse. Here is a website with some ideas that might help you. If the pot makes things worse, by all means it's time to quit. I did years ago and have been without a psychotic episode since. I was really unstable when smoking, I was doing it daily. Stopping made the biggest difference in the world....

think pot can make it worse, yeah? Maybe try that...abilify works pretty great for me, mostly x

hey zany and everyboday...yah, i get these damn intrusive thougts so so bad....i have ocd too, isn't it fun to have this? not...not at all...but anyway, the anti-psychotics seem to heolp me..i'm on zyprexa now, and that helps me alot...zany, if you think seroquel helped you more then the resperidol, i would talk to your pdoc about it...anything that works when it comes to stopping the intrusive thoughts...they are so so consuming...big hugs for you zany...xoxo, maggie
