Can't sleep despite my Lunesta and 3mg of Ativan. Been feeling high and low for months now. Lots of issues like my husband was laid off on New Years Eve. My son wanted to join the army which caused intense grief for me and at the last minute he didn't get the job he wanted because of partial color blindness. He is graduating in 3 weeks and his party plans are up in the air due to finances. I have started two jobs since January and kept one. The one I kept is totally stressing me out.
I have been feeling mostly depressed for months but I still get a day or two of sharp focused kinda happiness. Now it's like it's all mixed up. I obviously am becoming manic cuz I can't sleep. Yet I feel helpless and hopeless. At the same time I feel an intense desire to just go out somewhere and say to hell with it all.
So the question is: is this a mixed episode? I have had bipolar for 16 years and can't really remember what a mixed episode feels like. I have been pretty much stable for about two years now but life is completely out of control right now. Pdoc said take an extra saphris when I feel out of control, hopeless and helpless. He's also considering upping my Lamictal which is at 200mg/night. I don't know what to do.~~~Irish

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I do agree with fish though about Lamictal... It made me a little on the high side and I didn't sleep well on it at all... I would try the Saphris but if you haven't seen your doctor for a while I would make an appt
At the same time I think some of this is life... Difficult things going on in your life that you're trying to deal with and it's hard at times.. You don't want to trigger an episode though
If this has been going on for months then I believe it's been going on for too long and you may need a med tweak... Big hug and a blessing...xo
Anyway I haven't had too many episodes of mania lately. I did take another Ativan and fell asleep at 2:20 am. It's the weird depression that's killing me. I know if I talked to him he would probably tell me to go back to my old job since it was much less stressful. What do y'all think? This job feels me with pride because I am one of the assistant managers but it's very stressful and often makes me feel hopeless and useless. The other job is menial and boring but doable and much less stressful. It's very boring and I just felt I needed more stimulation and challenge. But know I wonder if the boring one would be better, plus it pays more! Anyway thanks for answering and thanks a lot for listening take care and sweet dreams ~~~Irish
Your Valium should help you sleep but if it's not you're probably drifting into mania. You should probably check with your pharmacist and see if you are taking meds during the night when you should be taking them during the day. That can really mess your sleep up. Believe me I've done it before. Please check soon before you get to full blown mania cuz then you're going to have to deal with the depressive crash. Take care and wishing you sweet dreams ~~~Irish
