We feed the earth on our rotting corpses. That is why the earth put us there in the first place.
The earth could off the whole human race in the blink of an eye. We are outnumbered billions to one by viruses and microbial bacteria. Ever evolving to find a way to wipe us out. To think that we are more than a geologic speedbump in the history of our planet is the rudest for of narcissism.
