Can't really share this anywhere else. But my feelings are hurt. My in laws are very hot and cold with me. My husband and I have been together 15 years and married over 13. Over the years I get nothing for Mother's Day since we didn't have kids and sometimes get something for Christmas and sometimes not. I have gotten gifts with my name misspelled(last year...a pen from the dollar store-tag attached), crazy expensive kitchen gadgets(like hundreds of dollars and useless) and sometimes I don't even get my stocking put up. They always ask for a list for Christmas and birthdays and I never put anything crazy on the list just a few simple things. This year was a year where my stocking didn't get put up and no gifts not even a card...sorry but they forgot I was told. But they spent hundreds of dollars on a family friend (she always gets a mother's day gift also which I get to hand out to the mothers). It's not about the gifts...it's about just pretending that I deserve a place in the family. I am a good wife and I am active with my niece and nephew but it is just crazy. I know they have resentments because we didn't have kids (couldn't have even if we wanted to). They still try to push adoption because my husband is the last in his family with the family name...but it's not something we want. Sorry for the rant I just can't imagine people being this cruel...but they are.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

Have you ever wanted to have a calm sit me down and let your feelings be heard??... Perhaps there's some healing that could be had ??
I'm a big boundary person... I've been hurt too much in the past as well and I'm not up for it anymore..
I agree with tommy that this isn't about you at all....xo
I am soory that your In-Laws are acting this way.
I agree, try to think of it as their issue.
Take the high road, and be gracious to them, regardless of their behavior. It makes you the better person.
(hugs)
my mom-in-law used to sneak into my room and iron my boxer shorts and put them back in the dresser. it was super-weird, but i guess kinda' normal in the country i was living in.
There is really nothing to be done except to be grateful that your husband turned out to be a good guy in spite of it all!!! That's what I do! (It does stink, I totally know where you're coming from... ugh. Try not to let it get to you too much.)
I can't believe that not one person calls them out on this??? idk- I would never be around them but as I said you are a much better person than me...
Sorry you are hurt and sorry they are just mean.
ironed boxers? thats a good one suncloud ! hotpants. ha
My youngest went through her 1st 6 months of life without her father even acknowledging her presence! He had been cheating on me, and as many abusers do, he turned that around and accused me of what he was doing..
Stuff went on. We left (myself and my daughters) and my ex started feeding his parents the same bs he was trying to make everyone else believe.
Well, from that point on... my two girls (3 years 9 months between them.) were treated oh, so differently by the ex-in-laws. The eldest girl, Aurora, was everyone's favorite. At Christmas she got clothes, make-up, and a huge variety of other things Her sister got A shirt that was just plain gaudy, and several knick-knacks from the dollar store. Very uneven, but i raved about her stickers and little pad an pen and cars and she was young enough, she didn't notice anything, Storm's b-day is in June, Aurora's is September.
Aurora gets a phone call from dad and grandparents and is allowed to talk for an hour. They come to meet us to give eldest her gifts, which are many.
On Storm'd b-day? IF she got a phone call, which was incredibly rare, They would talk to her MAYBE 10 minutes!
As to what they've done : celebrated a stepbrother's b-day on her b-day...had cake, special dinner, sang happy birthday to the boy...not to here. They didn't even tell her HB-day. They never call her anymore, Presents, IF she got any, were just a bag full of cheap junk. She would come home and tell me these things and I always got so furious. But she would shrug or take her tiny treasures with her to play in her room. After them celebrating her brother's b-day on her b-day, she stayed with me for her B-day from then on. Her following birthday, we took them to the beach for the 1st time for an entire week.
Her sister said she never really cried about it...came home and told me and it was like she accepted it as the right treatment to her..,or, it all rolled off her back. Well...it didn't...She hid it inside.
To conclude this ridiculously long post, I've seen it. I understand it. But it just shows to all the type of people they really are.
Hmmm...I would have loved to have tried this with my ex's family!
On Mother's Day when you have to pass out all the gifts...have your husband get you something and slip it in with the others. When you call your own name or however it works, it'll shock the fool out of them!! Or not sure how the stockings work, but if you aren't going to have one there, stuff your own and take it with you. You could do all sorts of fun things. And maybe you wouldn't be so bogged down by them at Christmas. Get your husband in on it! Let the creative juices flow!
Banshee? Do those farts come with fart wings? Kinda like angel wings. Or when they die, do they go to fart hell for flying in church?
Every Christmas they would tell everyone not to swap gifts and that we would just have a get together and eat. Every Christmas, everyone got gifts, usually large sums of money in an envelope. Everyone but us - because we didn't have children.
One year I wrapped a beautiful nightgown in a beautiful package and put my name on it. While everyone was opening their gifts, I opened mine and jumped up and said, Look what nobody gave me!!! Back in those days, I would have a drink or four before I got there.
I hope you guys can decide you don't have to be hurt every time you see your in-laws. You can get in your car and leave at the first sign of cruelty. My husband and I had a sign - when I heaved a big sigh and said, "I've had enough of this shit!!", he knew it was time to leave.
