In Home Therapy

I'm not a fan. My son gets 2 social workers 1-2 times per week that come to my house and try to work with him.

I've addressed it a few times that I don't feel comfortable with them in my house but I've sacrificed my comfort for the sake of my son.

It gives me insane panic attacks!!! I dread it days before they come over, and the day of is horrible.

I asked again today if there was any way to have him in a more controlled setting...in other words...in office, not at my home. But these tdocs are just so set on seeing him in my home. Why? He's so distracted when he's at home he doesn't even listen to them!

What do you think I should do?

If you are powerless over what they want just go with it. Accept that it may be like this for a while. In home tharapy might be a blessing in disguise.
If you feel panicy just give us a shout and we will be here for you.
Just say a prayer that you can be of maximum service for your son through this process.

hypoman has good advice..like the fact you say powerless..things we have no control over and easing into just going with the flow. it build character with each of us with proper support from others as we endure it :) peace be with you. :)

Hanna, I don't understand it either....have you talked to them about how it effects you???? Try to.....and see if you can get an office setting to ease your mind, but if you cant, talk to your pdoc about it also, maybe need to take a low dose of antianxiety pills for it.... Your son's distraction maybe needed to evaluate where he is at....so be patient and hang in there kiddo.

If you can get to there office, then it should be your choice. you are the family. or see if there isl a Family Advocate that can visit with you while the therapist sees your son. actually having someone to talk with would be nice. ( a family advocate is a person that also has a child or family member with something similar as your situation)

I would tell them what it does to you. Ask them again why it is so important to have to see him at home.Tell them he is more distracted at home.
I don't understand the way they are, but, I would want an answer.

I have a chance to have social worker/therapist in home with us for about eight weeks coming up with a behavior modification plan and helping us communicate with him. I want to have to done, but I have to get the house cleaned up first. It is so piled up hoarder style and that coupled with my lack of motivation is what it is taking a while. I wish I could afford to have someone come in and help me with it. Maybe outta my income tax refund. We'll see. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with them being there. I ain't gonna necessarily like it, but just like you with your son, we just have to suck it up. Hugs!!
