Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I went for an evaluation at a behavioral health center today. I have no insurance and was assured this place had programs for people of all status over the phone. I'm having what I think is a mixed episode. I have loads of depression symptoms but I'm also not eating, pushing away sleep, and hyper sexual. I met the criteria to stay inpatient and have my medications adjusted but I just don't feel I need that level of care and honestly it sounds really scary. They would literally have to give me medication to sleep in this scenario because I would not be comfortable. I was hoping for more of a PHP/IOP situation but there's nothing for people who aren't rich and don't have insurance. I'm at a loss for what to do. Do I bite the bullet and go inpatient? Are there other options out there I don't know of? For context I'm in SE Florida. Thanks for your time.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

There are groups, nurses and a physician working with you on finding stability and for me it was really worth it.... Big hug....xo
Ah the hospital yup super scary.....but in my humble experience it helped far more than it hurt.
Especially helpful in getting meds worked out and sleep issues addressed.
