Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I played violin today. This is the first time I've played at home in a long time and I've been avoiding my lessons and since it's summer I'm getting out of my school orchestra practices. I've been having an even harder time with wanting and enjoying things I love in this bout of depression, like a lot more than other ones. It's been bothering me so much but I just haven't been able to go open the case and pick it up. I'm barely getting by as it is so coming home all I want to do is lie down. But today I just wanted to play so badly so I did. And my arm hurt because I'm out of practice, and I couldn't practice my concertos or any hard pieces because my fingers were sloppy, and I sounded like I've only been playing for a few years. And it was perfect, the happiest I've been in days. I felt like myself again and it was such a good feeling. I don't want to brag or anything like that, I just really wanted to tell someone because my mom nor my boyfriend really understood the significance of it and they were busy so they didn't really listen anyway. I don't know it just really hurt to have them brush it off. But I know it's important and I guess that's what really matters. So I'm sorry if that was rambly or braggy, I just wanted to tell someone else. Thank you for listening!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I stutter. Badly. As a kid, my stutter held me mostly mute until near adolescence when my father plied Music Therapy. He would sing entire conversations with me, then taught me to regulate the tones to sound like normal conversation. It worked. I often wonder if my speech still processes through the music centers of my brain this half a century later.
When I started my psychotherapy in the 70's, music therapy was heavily integrated into the psychotherapy. I have very little formal music training, but I reserve the right to therapute with any instrument, up to and including your noggin, if you let me that close.
Here on the internet, using the words, "Music Therapy" will bring on a storm of recorded music links. NOT THE SAME THING!!!! I love recorded music as much as the next technogeek, but recordings do not produce the same tones as live instruments and listening doesn't integrate my personal rhythms like producing those tones myself.
Hope I am not co-opting your thread. Can you tell I am hungry for dialog about music therapy, starting with possibly needing a new name for ^it^ to distinguish ^it^ from the use of records. Instrument Therapy?
Thanks for sharing, Jenn. Sometimes in the course of my music therapy, I find a zone which produces orgasmic trills through my being which I call, "Angel Kisses." They are worth many brags in my own strictly personals.
Hope you will keep it up!
