Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I was talking to my dad's gf that he's had for a long time. I was wrong about her. She does care about me wants to help get better. It was great her that she loves me. She doesn't have any biological daughter. She told me the reson I feel so terrible is because I have a lot of stress piled on me. It's true but my son and his grandma don't do much to help me.
The other night my son and grandma got mad at me. I tried to clear this up but they said mean and hurful things to me. Grandmas says the reason I'm depressed is because I think about having bipolar when I get up. Well think about it beacause I have to take my medicine. I didn't tell his grandma that she has diabetis because she thinks about everyday.
Tomorrow I have an appoint with my Psychiatric Nurse Practioner so we talk about all of this.
Hugs everyone.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

My mom is naturally mean to me - not others just me. I had to learn coping skills to not buy in to the drama or let my feelings get hurt. I have 2 tricks I use regularly , I'm going share with you.
Hide my Goat - I imagine my peace of mind, calmness, inner child, etc. -is a Goat. Now my job is to protect my peace of mind, my goat. When things are good and I'm strong, I let my goat out - I'm strong and I need less protection. When my feelings are sensitive and I'm not willing to fight or be hurt - I hide my goat, behind me, with mantra and the serenity prayer, I chant whatever works to help me not take anything serious or personal.
When I drive up my Mom's driveway I self talk that I'm not going to lose my goat.
It's sorta like my coping skills allow me to be the grown up and not buy into their shit. I KNOW she's mean, I almost know everything she's going to say. Thaat lets me know I'm the one who needs to not play, not hurt, not believe or accept that just because we are bipolar doesn't mean we are not the better person.
OK too long!!!! Maybe I'll come back and share Trick 2 - which for me involves money - something I always understand.
I hope you feel better and know you are valuable and ok
I didn't look to family for much support with regards to BP as they simply didn't understand it
If you're in a depression perhaps you need a med tweak.... Big hug... xo
I learned fairly early on in dealing with this that I would have to forge my own path of support bc I just wouldn’t find it in family. That theme has been important in my growth and has allowed me to also find other activities that enrich instead of waiting for acceptance from people who likely would never understand. I find many people dealing with mental illnesses don’t necessarily feel supported by family, but also feel encouraged when I hear of those who DO have supportive families! Hugs. None of us are alone.
