Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I just got a packet from HUD in the county I lived in years ago. The appointment is on Oct. 11th which is not much time to prepare. They want a pile of documents and info. I will gather that up. This is stressful.
What is bringing out my anxieties is an incident that happened with this agency many years ago. I was on housing and it was my renewel meeting. I had just got out of the hospital for depression. My brother and sister-in-law voluntary took in my son while recovered. I told the caseworker this and said if he's going to be out of the home less that six months it didn't count. Around 2 months later I had the big nervouse breakdown in which I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and disabled. I had an appt. with housing to increase the amount of assistance I was getting because I didn't have a job anymore. They gave me another caseworker. Some girl that looked like she just graduated HS. I gave her my info. A few days later she calls up asking about where my son is living because she found an open child support case on me that wasn't noted in my HUD file. My sister-in-law filed for child support to help with costs while caring for my son. She wanted to get the money from his dad which was nowhere to found at the time so they came after me. We had a phone conference with support enforcement so they wouldn't go after me anymore. I told the caseworker I told the previos caseworker that my son was staying with my brother's family. The new caseworker basically called me a liar and said the other caseworker would of wrote it down in my file. I had no way to prove this. Fortunately I didn't lose my current assistance but they weren't going to increase the amount of help.
I had just applied for ssdi and would get it for about 2 years. I had to move back in with my father because I couldn't pay my rent much longer.
This incident made my recovery much more difficult. I have been scared of government agencies ever since. I feel they can't be trusted. I didn't want to deal with the agency again but being disable and on a fixed income, I don't have a lot of choice if I want to live in a place of my own.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

It's been some time since my last post...sorry. I've been going through a challenging time with the sale of my home, purchase of a condo and my adult asperger son that lives with me. I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed, days where I stayed in my pj's and days where all I managed to do was eat, drink fluids and take care of my Sweet Mia kitty. Sweet Mia came to me from a shelter about...

The anxiety comes from not being able to trust these government agencies at least here in America. They treat many people like garbage when they ask for help.
Thank you for your kind message. Big hugs.
Finally, when I get nervous I talk. Open mouth and Insert Foot., usually to my own detriment~ So when you have your meeting, You Don't Have To Explain Everything. Just answer their questions, you can bring a tape recorder, as long as you tell them you have one, 'I need to help me remember' and you can bring an advocate with you as well...a friend...anyone, just so that you are not alone: Them Bullies again You!
Who you will be working with Now, is Not the same person as before. Reverse your thinking, 'they are here to help me, I can thank them up front for what they do(a bit of brown nosing),,,I really appreciate blah blah...people in St. Gov. agencies get set back by someone who thanks them...rarely happens. Deep Breaths...You're a good Mom and a Strong Woman! My thought are with you! Hang in there!
