Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
My depression is really bad.
I am emotionally and physically completely exhausted.
I've only been showering every few days and eating is a huge struggle. Yesterday I think I only ate some cheese it's, half a pint of ice cream, and a few bites of my sandwich when we went out to dinner. I feel like crying a great deal of the time and either I'm not able to, or when I finally can it's over the smallest things.
I'm not on medication but I probably should be. But my GP is about as not educated about mental health at all, so I 1. Don't trust her to prescribe meds. (She tried to give me an antidepressant which is a no no for bipolar without a mood stabilizer) and 2. She seriously can be kind of rude so I don't want to go back to her because I am afraid of being further insulted when my depression is doing a good enough job beating me down.
Then I had this therapist I wanted to see because he also goes to my church so I feel I could trust him. Plus my GP had said that therapy in my area would be impossible to find and I should look online but I will not do therapy online. After 2 weeks or so of dragging my feet I finally found the courage to reach out to this therapist and he has a 2 month waiting list.
So now it feels like I don't have any options to get the help that I know I need.
I've been out of work because I basically told them I have a cold so I can't go back in until I don't have any covid like symptoms anymore. I want to tell my boss I have bipolar disorder and am going through a major depressive episode right now but I've never had to do that before. I am exhausted and going to work feels impossible. I am a behavioral health professional so I work one on one with preschool aged clients with autism. But part of me wonders if I went anyway even though I feel I can't if it would help.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

In the mean time, I would really recommend creating a discipline in your life - though you're feeling depressed - create a schedule and a routine to taking care of your home and your life and your days and stick with it... these kind of structures really support and evenness to
your experience and can help support any emotional blips in the road.. what I mean by that is you may have an upset - but sticking to the schedule will help you know 'what to do next' as well you might gain awareness of what set you off - and you will be better able to catch it and process it - come on here and talk about what's on your mind as much as you like too - rather than be a victim of it. Peace and best!!
Just a thought, perhaps call the therapist office back, ask to be put on a call list incase of cancelation...and ask for a referal to psydr.
If you've got work, and I've got a son who has aspergers, so I get how draining it can be...yet it's part of Your Routine....I'd get back to work asap....the more I sit and do nothing, as I have been doing now for quite some time the harder it is for me to Move!
Please do remember it's the Little Things, Little Steps that give us the ability to move forward. It's nearly 1pm, I'm still in my pj's, .... you've helped me by your post....thank you....going to at least get dressed today....
My Best To You!!!
Welcome to the board.... Big hug... xo
