back. to. square. one. i’ve lost track of how many times i seem to be back to the same mentality; the same bad day just repeats itself. i do fine for months. not great, but fine. i can’t complain about being fine because it’s always better than being in the dumps. but every so often the depression settles back in. it comes out of no where and i never know how long it will last. recently i was able to finally, for the first time in about 2 years, tell a friend of mine that i was genuinely content with my life at the moment. it felt nice to say that and really believe it. nope nope nope. my happiness is never long lasting and i’m very tired of it. my meds have changed so many times, my diagnosis has changed so many times. i’m very alone. there’s no moving forward when i keep getting dragged back to square one. i’m not scared, i’m not mad, i’m not sad anymore. i’m tired; numb.i don’t want it any longer.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
i often struggle with abulia - a numbness that comes with depressive cycles. It's something I have to work very hard at getting past, but better does come along.
Keep hoping, keep struggling forward - this is the time when you screw your determination to the sticking place and put one foot in front of the other.
In addition, it helps me to think of my therapy as a spiral staircase where each go round carries me to the next level instead of running ruts in a flat circle.
But that is me. . . Gentle support while you find what works for you, Noo.
I've had a solid year of extreme highs and lows. And when I've felt "fine" for a few weeks or so in between I had this sense of anxiety over how long it would last, what terror awaits me next in my unpredictable mind? When I start to slip back towards depression, i feel despair over the situation, like what's the point, I'm just going to end up where i dont want to be again anyways. I get sick and tired of fighting. Maybe you're more in a depressive phase than you realize? Or starting to go towards one?
I love the spiral staircase analogy, arf. That's a good point, maybe somehow in some small way we're making progress every time we find the strength to keep moving through an episode without really realizing it. We're at least gaining experience and coping skills.
I am always on the depressive end as well so now it's sort of my norm...… Occasionally I'll feel this joy and I sure do appreciate it
I think that, that's normalcy...… Big hug..... It's great that you've been going through a good period.... I hope that it lasts a while......xo
