I go to see a couselor every Thursday at 2:00pm I have been seeing her for 2 years I go to a teaching hospital to do this. Ive had to start all over many times with differant people because 1 graduates.I see a new one today in an hour I hate it. I will have to start all over trusting someone. Also I will have to start all over at the begining of my story to fill her in on me I hate doing that too.
My question is has anyone besides me had to change Dr's or counslors often and if so how do you handle the changes.

You have to tell her the whole story again? That sucks! Not that it doesn't happen to me too, because I am in the public mental health system. Same thing.

I try not to get "attached", but it invariably happens anyway. I alternate between handling it maturely, and standing in a corner sighing loudly with my arms folded. Or leaving. Noisily. Which isn't a good plan. lol

I hate change too! I've been through 3 different pdocs in less than a year though. UGH!

I also changed tdocs this year. I hope you think your counselor is great!

It's the opposite for me....I'm usually the one switching to another counselor.

Is there another place that offers therapy that doesn't have the turnover like the place you're currently going to??

fuck counseling....they made me go to one at college after I had an LSD fueled breakdown. She was a nice lady, but I didn't agree with her reasoning. I'm paranoid as hell, which made it even worse. A lot of times she would ask me about my medications and I could tell She didn't know any more about them than I did.

I hate change too, I"m driving 2 hours to my Dr. to avoid this.

I've only had to change my therapist once in the last few years. I've had the same one now for over 2 years and I can't imagine changing. I must be rough, you're finally making headway with one and then have to start all over. Do you have to go to a teaching hospital?

I'm on my 3rd pdoc in 4 years. I fired the first, the second retired and I met my current pdoc at crisis in emerg. I hate change too but sometimes it can't be helped.

I really enjoyed firing my first pdoc. He was a total ass.

I would think the grad could fill in the newbie and prob does and sits back listening to you talk about what he/she already knows.....just a guess!

On a + note, you get all the new counseling methods. You could prob write a book about THEM....LOL

I too hate change but after today's Pdoc visit I think I'm quitting him if things aren't better next month...
