I was recently diagnosed as bipolar. There isn't any support groups where I am from. I feel alone a lot, I guess I am just looking for support.

Hi I was diagnosed when I was 15 I am now 49 but up until now it went untreated so dr says it is progressive worse now which I believe to be true looking back thru the years, so now I am trying to educate myself and find a support group online not really any around me not that I always want to go out . I am new to this site as well hope u find what u need here

@ ahhope4u - AA isn't appropriate for people with bipolar if they are not alcoholics?

Update: I see you are recommending Focus on the Family in other posts. Well that explains it. I've marked the 12 posts where you specificly recommend or link to Focus on the Family and sent in a report to DS admin.

Well I started seeing the psychologist I was seeing previously when I was dealing with depression in high school. I thought it was that again even though my symptoms were a lot different. So I did not actually think I would be diagnosed as bipolar but I was.

Is there still a Seperate Board for Friends and Family Members of BiPolar Patients? Where they can go and share their experiences and such?

I know they mean well on this Board, but this Board is for People who Have BiPolar Disorder and unless you've walked in our shoes you can't really know how to advise others on living with BiPolar Disorder nor do you know anything about the meds we take or the type of Therapies we go through. It just leaves room for a lot of incorrect information being passed around...
