What can I do to get stable? I feel really anxious and depressed, and I don't know what else to do. On top of everything I am having family problems, very difficult to resolve. I am taking my meds like my doctor prescribed and I don't see any results. What should I do? Bonchi

Anxiety is a separate animal then BP. Family problems can overwhelm the best treatment and make everything worse, so the best thing right now might be to come to some resolution with the family problems. I'd certainly discuss this with your doc. I know that therapy can help greatly with anxiety and it wouldn't hurt in working out the family problems either. Some things I do is think about balance instead of stability, and use perspective to sort out what's going on, figure out why and then determine just how important it is. Remember the meds are only part of our treatment and they won't always protect us from what life brings us!

It takes time for the medications to kick in sometimes and sometimes the dosages have to be temporarily adjusted, or sometimes another medication needs to be added. Family problems are difficult to resolve and they will cause a lot of anxiety. Decide if you need intervention with the family problems or if you need to step back and let others take care of it. Praying for you. love and hugs.

It's really important to give the meds a chance to work or you will get on a medication round-about and not know what is helping and what is not. You maybe also need some medication specifically for anxiety as sometimes the usual BP meds don't work on all of the anxiety.

From someone who is waiting for meds to work myself... be patient. But also tell your pdoc, maybe there is something she can do in the meantime. Prayers that you feel better soon.

Are you taking something specifically for anxiety? If not , ask your pdoc for ativan, klonapin or maybe some zanax temporarily.

There's always the dreaded seroquel. I can't handle it, but most people seem to do well on it.
