hey look at kay jamison.
most people enter work areas of interest usually because they have had some kind of personal interest in it, what ever that may be, so it not unusual for health professionals to have health problems or for them to have loved ones that do, what ever the health problem is.

it's funny this is happening to you because i was recently told by my advisor that she does not think i am emotionally stable to do student teaching next semester ( i am in a master's education program with a 3.6 gpa).
a classmate complained about working with me in a group project to this advisor. As a bipolar, I think its common to elaborate on things to people. I did this with my classmate, and told her some personal things about myself, although I did not tell about being bipolar. i felt so hurt that this classmate would go to my advisor and use a conflict from a group project she and had i along with details about my family to use it against me.
at first i was really upset, but now i wonder if the surface of this situation is actually a chance for me to rethink being a teacher?
like nursing, teaching is really stressful and there are things that each job calls for that may not be avoided and might trigger overthinking and/or anxiety.
this may not be the best to write, but i too feel like you. ive worked really hard too, and i am very annoyed that i was told i cant student teach and that I should take a break for while. who are these people to make a judgement about me- certainly not doctors (and even still I would question it)!
Sam- some of the best advice i heard was this: " Try it out. If it doesn't work, try something else until you find something that works." I mean, certainly we dont have any other option, right?
I realize you have having a real problem with anxiety re ? work right now
Is it possible you may have an anxiety/panic disorder. If so this can be treated. There are so often concurrent illnesses in mental health
Once the symptoms are controlled I think you can move forward with alot more ease. You may want to consider having this evaluated with your doctor
I wish you well
