I rember when I was child I knew I existed before I was born. I`m not really not happy with the body I was given. I love my soul that is trapped in this body. But I don`t love the body I`m stuck with. I been bi=polar for 20 years and I at least like myself when I`m manic. Right now I do not love myself. Can anyone tell me how to love myself?

My counselor suggested that I tell myself, "It's all right. You are loved." And imagine myself hugging and comforting the child inside of myself. I tried it and it gave me peace- at least for three seconds. (That was a joke.) You might try that.

i had to really get well acquainted with myself. and then become my own best parent. so giving myself what i need, not always necessarily what i want!! and doing that day after day, i have come to realize that i do love myself. and it hasn't always been that way!!

when on the down side of bi-polar, i find that i do not like myself very much at all, and i find myself doubting anything good my husband tells me, like when he says "hi. beautiful", i tell him thank you, but right now i know you are lying. I do not feel beautiful.

I embrace the small things that I like about myself.

wow i thought i was strange because i thrived on my mania. i'm sorry but i have no idea how you are supposed to love yourself, i dont even like myself. it's just kinda nice to know that this feeling is shared by someone else. just a thought. maybe if you could write a list of achievments you have reached, your qualities and what makes you stand out as an individual. get your family and friends to do the same you will see what other people love you for . this could maybe set you on the right path to accepting that you are loveable and work from there. sorry not much help....

i try to be someone i would admire as often as possible. the qualities i love in others i try to cultivate in myself. For me i admire strength, courage, self respect, compassion, honesty, determination and serenity. i wonder what qualities you admire and love in others.......

loving ones self may be the greatest test, its hard to love yourself if you werent brought up with it. would so much of the pain with bp go away if we learned to love ourself. thank you for sharing, love nature, love anything.
