Hi, doorknob! I haven't had the energy to clean all I want to.
My soon to be ex complained about the dirty dishes and the dirty laundry in court. This was at the "Emergency Hearing" he called for.

My place stays pretty clean

clean with piles of clean clothes in odd places. my fiancee will wash clothes and pile them everywhere and I refuse to put them up because I didnt get them out of the dryer. He lets wrinkles set in them and I have to put them back in the dryer to get them out. I do get tired of it and put them up after they have been there a few days. Its annoying. I'm not a messy person but between he and the kids its too overwhelming.

My house isnt messy but the floors need cleaning and furnture
Dusting but having clocked 40 hours in three days i dont care who walks in and sees it like this. They can clean it if they dont like it

Good job on getting half the house clean! That's a bigger accomplishment than you think. My apartment's always messy. During my whole childhood I was a pretty neat person.Then, in my teen years when I got "sick" I wasn't able to even keep my bedroom clean, especially since I was about 18 and they started putting me on really heavy amounts of psych meds. Psychiatric problems and meds seem to just drain you. I'm 22 now, and I've been out on my own for 2 years. I'm almost always too embarrassed to have people over. My DAD has had to come over and help me clean my apartment, because I just can't keep up with it, and it gets sooooo bad. And my fiance is always at work or school and when he's here he doesn't do shit. That's a-whole-nother story. Anyway, yes I think having mental issues, like having physical issues, can sometimes get in the way of keeping your house clean.

I've got to work on reversing that!!!

It is too overwhelming for me. Up until about July of last year I was very obsessive about cleaning for a good while. Then I went off my medications around May of last year and withdrawal was hell and about July the depression crushed me like a ton of bricks. So since July I have cleaned my house twice and my husband has done it all the other times. I hope to get back to were I was soon but yeah this illness can be disabling. I literally feel like a rock is sitting on top of me sometime and I can not move but fortunately over the past couple weeks it has gotten better and I have been out walking and just wanting to get out. Maybe not cleaning yet but it is a good sign that I am actually wanting to leave the house. I hope you feel better soon and don't beat yourself up about cleaning. My husband says to me "Michelle, if you were suffering from chronic pain or arthritis would I expect you to clean?" Of course I answer no. Then he says "Michelle, you do realize that even though you have a mental illness it is physically disabling too and zaps you of energy and makes you hurt and have pain right?" I answer yes. He took NAMI classes for 12 weeks and he told me BiPolar Disorder is disabling and makes you unable to cope with even the simplest things at times. Maybe some people don't have this problem but oh I know I do.

Oh and my house always smells like Bacon that I keep cooking for Carla!!! LOL!

My apartment is terrible right now. You can actually smell the dust. It's bad. I did find a site though that has a spring cleaning list on it. I printed it out. Can't hurt right? I used to be super organized and such but no more. I was actually happier when I was organized and am wondering if that has something to do with my current depressive state.

If I printed out a 'to do' cleaning list, it would just become one more piece for my ever-growing, hoarder's collection!!!!

But I guess I could put it on top of something dusty, so that the place would look a little cleaner!!!

:) That sounds like what I do. LOL I am going to give my bedroom a serious 15 minute cleaning spree today though.

So glad to know that I'm not the only one. Especially now in my depressive state. I just don't care right now even when company is coming over.

I used to clean the house when people were going to come over.

Then I started closing doors, so that I wouldn't have to clean those rooms.

That degenerated into waiting until about 30 minutes before they were due and then madly (of COURSE, 'madly'!!) gathering up all the crap laying everywhere and flinging it into one of the 'closed door' rooms!!!

But I still hadn't hit bottom.
There came a time when I just couldn't make myself do ANYTHING to make the place look more decent, even though someone was coming over.
I just burned with shame the whole time they were here.

Only one more floor to go down in the old, Bipolar elevator!!!
And I've reached it!!!
Now, I don't even give a shit what this place looks like when someone comes over!!!

I feel like, 'What this house looks like is about the LEAST of MY problems!!'

clean enough but not scary/obsessively clean. Relaxed is what I mean; too many uptight neat freaks in my family ie/ one glass out of place on counter raises their blood pressure kinda thing.

I feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one struggling with this.

I use to be a very clean person in my early adulthood but now at some point I think I got burnt out running around trying to clean up after extremely messy children.

Since that time I have struggled with cleaning. Some days it's all I can do to just sweep dirt under the carpet. And my house gets bad! Really bad like the city will condemn the house because it's that dirty!

Well maybe not as dirty as one person's house I can think of.
