I got down there, checked in, and they appointed one of the hospital security guards to watch me while I was in the ER waiting room, and he followed me into the treatment room and xray room while they looked after my hand. I started to get scared.
As I rode the elevator up with the guard, my stomach was all in knots. As we went onto the ward, I told the nurse I was terrified. She was real nice to me and walked me around the place to show me there was nothing scary in there. Then she handed me some pills to take, and took me to my room.
All in all it was a very positive experience. I hope your experience is as good for you.
Thank you for your advice x
Hmm... there was several years between my episodes and the few times I stayed in the hospital. I remember the first time that I went into the hospital I didn't even know about mental illnesses at all. So it was shocking. I didn't want to stay and signed myself out untreated, no dx.
The 2nd time was similar but finally after a few days I allowed myself to take the meds and realized that it was a chem thing.
I actually like hospital food so I'm a freak like that.
I was looped up on tons of lexapro and xanax. I complained of suicidal thoughts and the pdoc upped my doses and I went nuts.....it took three nurses to hold me down and when they got me down they threw me in lockdown till my mania calmed down then they promptly put me on zyprexa and trileptal. Then eventually those drugs stopped working and I became suicidal yet again.....
