Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I am a rapid cycler with psychoses, so I have had about 6 episodes so far this year, with some audio and visual hallucinations during the previous few weeks.
I suggest, you do what you can to educate yourself on bipolar and the various medications, so you can ask your doctor informed questions when you see him/her.
For me, last fall was stable and pretty good. Then in January my cat became ill and we had to put him to sleep. Then an on call doc for my internist put me on a steroid pack for a sinus infection and those combined sent me over the edge.
I've been dealing with a pretty severe depressive episode for the past 10 months. Doc is trying like hell to find the right cocktail. He had me stable for 3 solid years and then a couple of the meds I was on quit working. That sucks.
I have very treatment-resistant depression. I am currently only on Seroquel XR, Lithium and Klonopin. Still searching for the Holy Grail AD. Good luck.
