I was diagnosed today with bipolar type 2. I guess if it is a correct diagnosis it is a hella overdue.
I am 48 and have spent almost as long as i can remember (well at least since puberty) having mood swings going from being in love with everyone and everything in the universe and it all making sense to being convinced people were smack talking me and plotting against me. Walking out on jobs and relationships, doing self harm and generally being miserable.
Now that the hormones are slowing down I have found myself swinging between depressed and more depressed with VERY short periods of euphoria.
Over the past year or so I have tried 5 different SSRI's and couldn't tolerate any of them. They were all prescribed by my general practioner.
Well today I finally saw a psychiatrist. We are trying lamictal. Wish me luck!
Oh yeah....I am looking forward to making new friends here. Maybe this diagnosis will finally put the puzzle together for me.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
I have taken lamictal for quite some time and it has proven to work for me. Best wishes to you!
I hope the long over due diagnosis is in an odd way comforting. Now you can get the help you need. You are never alone!

I had to stop Lamictal unfortunately due to a side effect but I loved it...It worked well for me for a time...x
