Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Hi, I recently found out that I am bipolar and I'm really struggling trying to navigate exactly what it means. So, I decided to join this group and just see if anyone had any helpful tips. I feel like a freaking crazy person, one month I will be perfectly happy and fine then out of no where I am impulsively going out and spending money. I hate that I feel like I can't control my own actions. I guess I just wanted to hear some of your stories and coping mechanisms to get an idea of what I should do. Thanks.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

my friends here. I have learned coping skills but can't always access them and so when all else fails, which is often, I come on this site and write what I am feeling, thinking and observing. It's affirming just to write it out - and also to get feedback from folks. Peace to you.
Welcome! This is a great place to get support and give support. It's all so much when we first get diagnosed. Pay attention to what being "up" feels like and the behaviors that go along with it. The same with being down. Keep a journal if you can it helps...
Welcome and keep checking in!
Meds have also helped tremendously. The first seven months of my dx I refused medication but I was just getting worse. I’ve been on meds for six years and only maybe two years ago did I get onto a cocktail that has me mostly stable.
I read a lot on bipolar too.
One thing that has helped me is to avoid saying “I AM bipolar “ but instead to say “I HAVE bipolar” this illness does not define me. It is not who I am but it is a part of who I am.
Also a book called MIND OVER MOOD:Change the way you feel by changing the way you think
This is a good place to come.... I'm glad that you've found us.... Big hug....xo
