Heart desiese and health

I am in a BP study group that is looking at the effects of heart desiese and its correlation to BP, for the next two years. I am just wondering how prevalent this condition is with BPr's. They say a lot of it is lifestyle choices but some has to do with the medication, espically the weight gain.

Has your general health been effected by your BP

I can't say that BP causes any adverse health effects for mememememem... Lithium doesn't cause weight gain for me and any health concerns I have appear to be hereditary. Of course so is BP, right? It seems to me that
the BP population is a very small sample to study...we're at 4% of the total population,max, right? But if somebody's got a grant to do a study I say go for it!

I'd be surprised if it was the meds themselves but can see how being overweight can be a problem. I'm facing that right now. Gained a huge amount of weight on my meds.

Hmmm. Let me think... a beeper who's locked themselves in the house because they like it. No exercise, plenty of junk food and various other bad habits and who happens to take any given number of medications which can add weight as a side-effect.

BP does not cause heart disease. Some BP behavior can eventually cause heart disease. ?!

My pDoc told me once to "look after my overall general health" because Bipolar people tend to have more health problems. I wanted to ask her if it had a lot to do with meds causing us liver problems, ect. I may ask her yet.

I JUST started takeing xanax. It is fantastic for my anxiety (a little too good) but suddenly I crave sugar and dont feel the urge to excercise. Im addicted to them already I know it. But I am very nervous about my kidney and liver getting damaged so I will only take Lamictal and an anti anxiety. Not all this 7 med cocktail that they love to put us on. Im no guinee pig.
