So I'm a home health therapist. Last summer I worked for agency that pushed me to work twenty hour days with no help in sight. Needless to say I got burned out real bad real fast. I had to quit that job to my boss's complete suprise. I started a new home health job. This one is busy but not nearly as bad and the people there are nice. The problem is I am still really burned out. I have panic attacks going to see patients, even the nice ones. I get angry with them really easy and my tolerance of them is all but gone. Quite fankly I hate my patients. That fair to them. They are no perfect but they are not the worst people I've worked on. My Mom says I need to find a therapist and I'm starting to agree.

Happy start-of-the-week!!!! I have work in a couple hours. Rocket is being a stinker over here refusing to finish his breakfast which is most unusual. I will give him a few millk bones before I have to leave for work and some kibble in his bowl. What is something you are looking forward to? For me, I am look forward to seeing my therapist tomorrow and my prayer meeting is on tuesday

I agree that a therapist can help find some coping skills and work through your anger.... Anger is a secondary emotion so something is causing it
You can end up getting yourself into hot water if patients start to complain about how they're treated and that will make things worse
Maybe a life coach if you'd be happier doing something else this could be explored??
It can be frustrating working with sick people when we are sick ourselves..... Big hug.....xo
It doesn't sound like it's really safe atmosphere for your patients and it doesn't sound like this is a healthy thing for you. Talking to a Therapist and getting some Anger Management help, learning some coping skills, learning where the anger is manifesting from and dealing with the core issues can get you to a healthy mental state.
You may need to take a break from this career for a while and do something else. If your doing physical therapy with these patients, that takes quite a bit of patience from the beginning, as most people aren't thrilled with PT. If your already angry it won't take much to get more irritated by a patient who doesn't want to do the exercises or things you've asked them to do....
Regardless, I'd definitely find a Therapist.
