Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Has anyone heard of or tried this?
below is an explanation copied from Wikipedia:
Brainwave entrainment is any practice that aims to cause brainwave frequencies to fall into step with a periodic stimulus having a frequency corresponding to the intended brain-state (for example, to induce sleep), usually attempted with the use of specialized software. It purportedly depends upon a "frequency following" response on the assumption that the human brain has a tendency to change its dominant EEG frequency towards the frequency of a dominant external stimulus.[citation needed] Such a stimulus may be aural, as in the case of binaural or monaural beats and isochronic tones, photic (visual), as with a dreamachine, a combination of the two with a mind machine, or electromagnetic radiation.
It sounds interesting. I would to your thoughts on this.

I've heard of it used as a sleep aid several times, and from what I've read and hard people like it. You can find some guided stuff on youtube

thank you for commenting. I'm glad this helps you sleep. Hugs.

I'm really cynical about a lot of things, this included.

I use it. I do think each person will find their Own 'match' in frequency and beat (like, binaural or isochronic, etc) - but yes, it helps me to relax, focus, become peaceful and Think more clearly. :)

I've used this too. I don't use it often, but I like it. I prefer binaural beats (requiring earbuds or headphones) that are supposed to produce delta waves, the deepest sleep state (I think). I haven't really done any research on it.

I have a Jeffrey Thompson (??) alpha brain wave cd for meditation. I haven't listened to it in awhile and it didn't help me with sleep, but it did relax me.

Jenn, there is heartmath out of California. They're mostly for anxiety (program begun for heart patients). I think they're legit in their basic claims...it doesn't do everything. They do have a cool handheld gizmo that gives visual feedback on stress levels...I tried my FIL's.

thank you everyone. I'm glad some of you are getting help from this.

I've never heard of it but it sounds interesting.

Mom and I have errands to run this morning. She said we can get sushi for lunch though. I go back to work today. What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Quick, before the evil MONday gets here! Let's climb those mountains, dance in the meadows, dip our feet in the ocean....Okay, so most of us won't be doing any of That. Sadly. But today can still be a great day!The area behind our back fence is on an incline, with less than two feet on even ground at the top. I don't balance well enough for the incline, but our mower guy mows that...
