I have been on Lithium for about a month now and I have felt like a complete zombie, nauseated, and extremely uncomfortable. My pdoc decreased my dose to 150mg but I think I am highly sensitive to this medication. Has anyone else reacted this way?

I am on Lithium (1200 mg/day) and Tegretol (800 mg/day) and they have saved my life!

But like the others have stated, we all react diffently to medications.

There are several other mood stabilizers you can try that include: Lamictal, Tegretol, Gabapentin, Topomax, and Neuronton.

Come to find out my sis was on lithium when she was younger, like a lower dose & she loved it.. I really would love to try it to be honest..

& she was told she had mild BP then, I am def worse off to be honest.. So who knows?

Yes, I'm having trouble with this. I never had this much acne when I was a teenager. Anybody know of any good soaps or other treatments for lithium induced acne? I told my doc and she just said, "Yeah, that will happen." I'm not sure if I like her.

I've been on a lower dose of lithium for just over six months(900mg). I think it's helped me. I just need to stay in a good sleep cycle, or I tend to get all out of whack.

I started litihium when I was 15. Back then, I had the numbness, hand tremors and nausea. It is years later now and all I'm stuck with is the weight gain and acne. I'm on 1500 mg now, back then I believe I was on 900 mg.

YES!! My p-doc had me on various meds w/ Lithium included. I blew up 25 extra lbs., lost some hair, hair became brittle, zits on zits, had convulsions or seizures (he called it tremors) and it elevated my liver levels. I got dry mouth so bad that I drank sugary drinks to coat my mouth. Needless to say my teeth went bad. I hated it. I was a zombie.
