Hallucinations

How do you know when you are hallucinating? Are you even aware when you are hallucinating?


ive only hallucinated once. It was a swarm of flies coming toward me growing larger and larger. I was completely aware that I was hallucinating while it was happening. There was a fog around me and I just knew it wasn’t real. I had taken some trazodone after dr took me off of it  I couldn’t sleep so I took just one 50mg pill  almost immediately I felt light and dizzy  I barley made it to the couch and that’s when it happened.



sonce then I was redirected by my pdoc to take trazodone and have not had any other hallucinations.



Im curious about your experience with hallucinations and what brought them in.

Most of mine have been the result of sleep deprivation. They were nowhere near as clear as yours. It seems possible I simply dozed off and was dreaming. Then there are those movements on the edge of my senses. No, I am never sure if they were real or? ? ? Who knows? I mostly shrug them off.

What you are describing sounds like I might describe a symptom which comes with my low blood pressure and forgetting to eat. I have lost consciousness with it a time or thirty.

Kisses- I had auditory where a guy and lady were talking about me and then to me critically-- I saw people I knew that were not there-- in the moment it is very real- I didnt know it wasn't till I was in my right mind-- I remember vividly and I hope not to experience this again--- it's scary that you are having conversations with people that are not there - I was hospitalized and medication helped ((hugs)) polar

I have had only auditory hallucinations …. I was aware and I was also sleep deprived..... I was put on one of the 'zines' and it brought me out of it fairly quickly

I have schizoaffective disorder (both schizophrenia and bipolar) so I hallucinate especially if I don't take my antipsychotic medication. I hear voices and see shadows of people and sometimes I hear the voice of God or I see the devil when I'm deeply depressed.

Sometimes my hallucinations are also present with delusions so it's for me to tell if it's real or not. Sometimes I really believe it's real.

I do not have an illness that includes hallucinations but I did hallucinate once on Remeron which is an anti-depressant for seniors. I heard clear as day a voice below my window in the middle of the night calling out my name and telling me he was coming to get me. It was pretty terrifying. And another time when I had received by mistake an extra dose of chemotherapy I heard voices talking about me and I was terrified then too.

I've seen shadow people as well and was really paranoid

I guess I also had auditory hallucinations when I was in the state hospital. I heard heavy breathing and was convinced that it was the devil in my room. I got a room mate after that and it stopped.

And I’ve seen shadow people at lease twice

I don't know they're not real for long periods of time, until I get moments of clarity and get my butt into the hospital. And then I have some beliefs that my psychiatrist calls `soft psychosis', but are benign. It's a-typical but it's how I see elements of life.
