Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I've had really bad insomnia since I was very young and was often up at three in the morning by myself in elementary school. I've always been very afraid of the dark so those nights up alone were terrifying. While I was up I'd occasionally see monsters and small things like that flash or sit in my room. I assumed it was my imagination being rude and didn't clearly communicate this to my parents at the time. Lately though, usually at night, I've been seeing the blacked out figure of a man. Flashes, static walking, or occasional waving he keeps turning up on an almost regular basis. I can't help but feel very drawn to him, like he must be here for a reason. He doesn't feel malevolent like the monsters when I was little. I can't control him or get him to let me get a better look or communicate. At first, it wasn't bothering me because it wasn't as often but I'm feeling increasingly more drawn to him. I knew I had to figure out his name because I thought then it would make him seem more like one of my friends. But unlike my plush friends who live on my bed with me, I couldn't just give him a name. I didn't want to make him angry by just randomly picking one. So after a few days of strong distress, I was able to find his name a couple days ago. I think he helped me because when I was thinking of names they all turned out to start with 'A' and then the name 'Albert' kept repeating so now I know his name is Albert. But I don't know if he's always here and just not showing himself or if he comes and goes. I'm scared to say this out loud because I don't want him to get angry. I'm in an IOP program and have told my therapist about it. At first, she sort of brushed it off but now I think she's listening to me more about it. She just kept asking questions when I told her I needed to talk to her immediately because I stressing and obsessing over finding a name. I'm just so confused. I feel so enchanted when I see him even though I never get a long look, I just want to keep looking. My boyfriend asked me why I always get quiet (I'm a very talkative person) when Albert is around but I don't really know. I just don't know where he is all the time. I'm scared to tell my parents about it. Maybe it's a bad side effect to my medications, Lamictal and Welbutrin, but I'm not even sure that I want Albert to go away and I don't want him to get angry. I wish I could communicate better with him to understand more. I'm so confused and my therapist isn't being clear or explaining what is going on. I'm so conflicted and I don't want to hurt Albert. Is this my imagination or a medication side effect or is Albert coming to me for a reason, maybe he needs help or wants to tell me something or thinks I'm special. I'm scared to question if this is real or not, I hope he isn't here reading this I don't want him to get angry. I don't know what to do.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Its not like you're doing anything wrong, its just part of an illness and it needs to be addressed.
take care,
Kat
