This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
God bless you,

I was only on it for 3 mos when I started to notice my hair everywhere! I had to keep having the plumber out here to unclog my bathtub drain (until I watched him enough times to learn how to do it myself!)
When I went back to my p-doc and told her to take me off of it because of my hair loss, she asked me which was worse, the mood swings or hair loss. Ummmm........ I told her that I didn't think adding a self-esteem issue on top of all the others was exactly good! She put me on Lithium.
I don't know that I was actually intentionally pulling my hair out, but I think I was in amazement and more of a "Hey! LOOK!" and running my hand very easily thru my hair and it would come out the other side full of hair that just fell out. I got a little carried away with that trick! I was just in amazement over it.
But that was several years ago and all is fine now. I was worried it wouldn't reproduce itself, but it did.......... and now I'm back to breaking combs and looking for giant scrunchies.
I'm still worrying about ending up with a Homer Simpson combover!!!!
I'm on Seroquel and Lamictal. But I also had an absolutely terrible shock and that can make your hair fall out as well!!
The subject just happened to come up when I was at the dermatologist's for a totally different reason and she said to take Iron, so I started taking that.
The next time I went to see my Pdoc, I actually took a bag of hair with me that represented one brushing, so that he'd know that it was not just 'in' my head, but falling 'out' of it, as well!!!! LOL!!!
He told me to take Biotin, Zinc, Selenium, and Chromium. So I'm taking all that now, too.
The hair loss has slowed considerably. I'm still waiting to see if it's going to start coming back in the way that it used to be.
If you start losing your hair from shock, it usually stops growing for about 3 months and then starts growing back in. Since you naturally lose hair all the time, it starts to look worse and worse for those 3 months, because some is going and none is coming.
Sniff!!!! I miss my thick hair!!!!
