Hi, I have a question. How do you forgive someone and move on if you still think the person is in the wrong and they have not apologized to you? How do you move on without thinking that what they did was okay?
I need to move on in life over a hurt that happened, but my friends are getting tired to listening to me. I'm an extrovert, so I need to talk through my problems, but even though it's been almost a year, my life is taken over by obsessive thoughts instead of forgiveness. it's so bad that my friends even told me point blank not to come back to school next year.
I want them to understand my frustration and see my point of view and support me. And I want the people who hurt me to apologize, but I know they're never going to. They all still think it's my fault, and even though I do take responsibility, I want them to understand it isn't all my fault. I want us both to take equal responsibility for what happened. Any advice? I've been going to counseling and even then it hasn't helped. People tell me that it's because I don't want to change, but I do. I'm trying my best, but I can't stop being angry about it and it consumes my life. Any help would be appreciated!

It was painful just reading about your situation with your son -- can't imagine how it must be to live it. "Hate" is a very strong word. I'm not sure why it scares me so much but I rarely, if ever, have allowed myself to go there. That, in itself, has probably caused problems for me.
You love your son but you don't like the way he is. Follow that old Native American tale and "feed the good wolf." That means put your energy and attention into loving your son. Starve your dislike for the way he is. I know this must be so difficult for you as a Mom. Hang in there!
